Career Options For College |
We have always been asked 'what do you want to be when you are grow up?' When I was like around three I always said Doctor, used to check people's tongues and eyes like usual medical persona had. I grew up and the same question bumped my head, but this time I had a change of mental status so i said, 'a singer will be cool!!' (not to mention I sang back then, or even now).Well, no need to worry as I deleted this one soon. Now when I completed High School people wanted a more serious answer from me, but I wasn't sure what to say this time. I saw all the world recession stories and trust me, I almost had a heart attack thinking about it every now and then. I want my future life to be perfect, want to do what i am good at and earn lots. So what I did, I asked many people on the pros and cons of every Education Field that I can opt for. But I just checked on the latest reviews on the worst and best paying carrier options(college degrees). I want you guys, who are about to make a decision not go through what I did and just have an idea about each and every stuff.
20 BEST PAYING CARRIER OPTIONS:
The college degrees that lead to the highest salaries all involve high-level mathematics.
Just like last year’s survey of salaries by college degrees, engineering majors dominate the list (I am not saying this because I am an Engineer student, It's a proven fact). For undergraduates, seven of the top 10 college degrees, according to
Payscale Inc., belong to engineering majors. The best paying college degree of all — by a long shot — is
Petroleum Engineering.
The salary advantage that graduates, who earn these largely technical degrees, enjoy continues as they move into the middle of their careers.

20 WORST PAYING CARRIER OPTIONS:
If you want to avoid the worst-paying college degrees, think twice before choosing a college major that involves children.
Included among the 20 worst-paying college degrees are elementary education, special education, social work and child and family studies. That's the conclusion of the latest annual study of college degrees by Payscale, Inc. that compiled starting and mid-career pay for dozens of college majors.
Child and family studies earned the honors as the worst-paying college major. The average graduate earns a beginning salary of $29,500. What's equally discouraging is that the salary of someone in this field will barely budge after 15 years in the profession.
Food is another common theme for students who major in the worst-paying college degrees. Students who earn degrees in horticulture, dietetics and the culinary arts are more likely to end up struggling financially.

I beg to differ.
ReplyDeleteThe higest earning in the world are the ones who fly solo and do things on their own. But, thats going off topic. So, if we come down to which degree is better..its needless to say that its the University which gives the degree the value than the degree it self. I can confidently say an Arts graduate (which you listed in the worst paying carier opetions)from Harvard would by far earn more than any engineering graduate from any college in India.
Also, basic fresh engineer graduatees are not payed as much as Doctors, lawyers or actuaries.
ReplyDeleteok!! i do agree with you at some point...
ReplyDeletebut this research is based on 2010 annalysis
and this year engineering degrees were payed the highest in US and Europe....
so i would say this would be useful for poeple willing to settle abroad!!
and ya Harvard!! not everyone can afford that. But yeah you've got a point there. It's anyways upto your willingness and efforts. But still you gotta walk with the world!!!
Apologies, but I find that hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the credibility of your sources.
In USA and UK a fresh medicine graduate earns nothing less than $120,000. And, surgoens and anesthiests earn upto $250,000 mid-career.
P.S: Please cite the links which show appropriate data in regard to the payscales.
Good job. I like it. I love how you put my major as number 2 on the worst paid list, but I knew fron the beginning you don't make a whole bunch just enough to be comfortable. So I'm going to go be an elementary teacher anyways.

@nikhil i totally understand what you trying to say and I do have an idea about those circumastances. But like if you read it properly i've mensioned the source too. and I think it pretty reliable.
ReplyDeleteA far as India is concerned the situation here differ a bit. Here right not like in 2010. Here the top spot is captured by MANAGEMENT - as
A highly-qualified employee in a growth industry such as health care, construction or manufacturing may expect a salary of Rs 5,500,000 to 8,500,000 approximately
and likt you said Medical gains the thirsd spot and then Engineering!!
P.S I am sort of impressed by your keen knowledge on this.... keep up the good work
@rachael yeah sure you can opt for whatever you are passionate about... you know even if I join the top paying degree college and I have neither interest nor skills then it would be an total waste. If you are good at something and love to do it, just go for it!!!
